I find myself surprised for how much I’m sorry for Steve’s departure. Of course I enjoy using Apple products, but that still doesn’t explain why Steve Jobs death has touched me so deeply. I think I never noticed how much I admired him until now. I’m watching again after many years that -now legendary- 2005 Stanford graduation speech and seems like I finally could understand what he meant, and it’s brutal. I think that speech has a deeper meaning than the “Yes you can!” message that I initially caught. A very deep one. I’m stubborn and I never ever listen to other people’s advice, but I think now I’m more mature -or at least more informed- to realize what Steve was saying. And what makes me very curious is the fact that in that speech Steve almost quotes literally to the most unimaginable characters, such Padmasambhava and Carlos Castaneda.

Maybe it’s time for me to start listening. As the above quote says, Jobs urges us to not to live bounded by other’s thinking. In Tibetan Buddhism is said that the outer, external teacher is nothing but the manifestation of your own inner wisdom; so that inner voice is ultimately your own Guru. Also is said that a teacher can manifest to you in a diversity of forms. So, in that sense, thanks Steve for making me remember what I constantly forget. You were a true inspiration and mentor for many.

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond
